Lavender, or Lavandula, is a decorative herb, which grabs attention of people around. A fragrant and spicy Lavender, shining with generous silver and purple colors, is a favorite plant of many flower growers. Lavender looks great in bouquets, and in the garden it is considered one of the brightest one. Lavender sends forth a pleasant, light fragrance, therefore it is often used as perfume component. The plant prefers bright sun to partial shade. It thrives in well-lit areas with direct sunlight for a significant portion of the day. Water the plant with approximately 1 glass of room temperature water when the top few inches of soil seem to be on drier side to the touch (about two-three times a week in summer, and the rest of the year it should be a bit less). Don’t let the plant sit in soggy soil. Lavender is shipped in 6” pot. The plant prefers high level of air humidity. Lavender must be watered systematically, and moistened with a sprayer. It doesn’t stand drafts, which have negative effect on the plant. Feed the plant in spring with fertilizers with a high nitrogen content. At the beginning of flowering, it is fed with compound mineral fertilizers with a high potassium content. Organic fertilizers are applied at the end of summer. The height of the plant shipped varies from 12” to 14” which is measured from the bottom of the pot to the very top of the plant. The width of the plant is between 8” to 10”. The repotting of the plant is made once in a year in the early spring, since the soil can lose all its useful properties during this time.
