TL;DR: If you like a high power typhoon suction and fast refills for your big tanks, you are better off with a python. If your water change involves cleaning heavy and clumpy waste and you are in a hurry, this is not for you. I really love this product and will highly recommend it, a game changer and I no longer dread water changes cause it’s so easy.Detailed review: After reading the reviews and comparing it to the python, I decided to get this instead because the phyton seemed a little too powerful for my 10g and the small fish I keep. Not to mention, the price difference between the two is massive. So, I bought it and after using it on my 10 gallon I must say I am in love with it. The product was quite heavy since it is a 50 ft hose, but it seemed durable and everything I needed was there. I love that they provided you with 50ft of hose as it was able to reach my tub and garden hose no problem. Mind you I am not a handy person at all and the setup was very easy for me, I watched the video and I was able to change my water in less than 10 minutes compared to doing a 1 hour bucket trip. The suction was strong enough to catch the fish poop sized of a thread, but not the fine sand substrate. I wouldn’t imagine the suction enough to be strong to take a goldfish or pleco poop. It did take a bit to suck out the water, about 2 minutes to get my 10 gallon 50% so if you are in a hurry and have a big tank, it will take a long time draining it depending on how much your water change is. I wasn’t scared of the fish being sucked in cause like I said it was a slow suction to where I can monitor it draining. The screws for the hose when filling is not universal, but the last part will fit a garden faucet. I was able to fill up my 10 gallon in about 1 minute. The temperature of my tap water to the aquarium was the same, so I had no problem of just filling it right through but if you’re cautious about water temp and the levels of your tap water then I would suggest not getting an auto water changer cause it’s something you may not be able to control. The only thing I was worried about is that I was putting chlorinated water directly onto my tank as opposed to the bucket system, I was able to place water conditioner for every bucket of water. I just dosed the tank before amd after with water conditioner and stress cure from api. Honestly, I think this product is a game changer and saved my love for fishkeeping again, I don’t have to dread on taking out the buckets again unless for rescaping. It’s so easy and simple, the only thing I could see you not being able to use this is if your tank is 5 gallon or less but you could always use it to refill your tank and use a different syphon to do water changes. Anyways, I think it’s worth the investments and if you are tired of buckets but do not have the money for a phyton, then this is for you.
